About

Engineer by trade, teacher by habit.

I’m William, a software engineer from Medan, Indonesia. I started in competitive programming, reaching the ICPC Asia Jakarta finals three years running, and found that I liked shipping real systems even more than solving contest problems. I also have a habit of never stopping learning, which is why in 2026 I joined the Apple Developer Academy in Bali on a full scholarship.

From 2022 I built backends at Springkraf, a software agency: booking for an 80-branch barbershop franchise, voyage ticketing at ~3,000 tickets a day, and apps for forex, fitness, travel and retail. In 2024 I became a hands-on lead for 8 backend engineers, still coding most of the time. Today I work remotely with US teams at Boon AI, a California construction-AI company, building AI agents and the takeoff and estimating platform behind them.

I care about how things work and how they feel. Outside engineering I tutor programming, coach public speaking, and advise a Buddhist youth organisation I once led. Each of these makes me better at explaining technical work to people who aren’t engineers.

Certified Public Speaking (CPS). Coached 9 students in communication, storytelling and public speaking.

Teaching and tutoring
In Tebing Tinggi I teach small classes of up to 5 students, online or at home: school maths and informatics, coding and basic computer skills for everyone, and a career track in programming, AI and English. Since 2022 I have taught 8 programming students; several went on to study computer science.
